Our story

AER was founded in 2021 by Nicole Lamers, a Western Australian hairdresser and educator with over 20 years in the industry.

As Nicole moved towards a more low-tox way of living, she started looking more closely at the products she used every day, on her clients and on herself. She wanted haircare made with more considered ingredients, but couldn't find a professional range that also gave the salon results she relied on. So she created her own.

AER brings those two things together: thoughtful, plant-based ingredients and professional performance. Inspired by Australia's native ingredients and the Western Australian coastline, every formula is made to support healthy hair and scalp over time, not just for a quick fix.

Why AER?

AER comes from the Latin word for air. It represents life, breath and our connection to nature, the things we come back to in everything we make.

What you put on your hair and scalp every day matters. Low-tox living is about making more considered choices for your body and the environment, and haircare is an easy place to start.

No sulphates, so hair is cleansed gently without being stripped.
No synthetic fragrance. Our products are scented with essential oil blends.
No animal-derived ingredients, and no animal testing.
Botanical and native ingredients like Kakadu plum, argan, macadamia, shea and calendula at the heart of every formula.
Full transparency. Every ingredient is listed on every product page, so you always know what you're using.
Less waste. Recycled PCR tubes and recyclable mailers.

We believe in fewer, better products used well. A simple four-step ritual means less in your bathroom and less to think about.

Vegan and cruelty-free. We never test on animals, and every formula is vegan.

Sustainability. Our tubes are made with post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials and our mailers are recyclable. We aim to run our business the way nature works: with less waste and more care.
